EU AI Act

Overview

The European Union’s (“EU”) artificial intelligence (“AI”) Act (the “EU AI Act”) represents a landmark legislative initiative designed to govern the development and deployment of AI technologies within the EU. Recognising the transformative potential of AI and the need for responsible and ethical use, the EU AI Act aims to establish a comprehensive regulatory framework. This framework seeks to balance fostering innovation with safeguarding fundamental rights and societal values. The impetus behind the EU AI Act lies in addressing the ethical concerns associated with AI, such as bias, discrimination, and the potential impact on privacy. By laying down clear guidelines and standards, the legislation aims to instil trust in AI systems, promote transparency, and ensure that AI technologies align with European values.
Learning Outcomes:
  • Understand the key provisions of the EU AI Act and its significance in governing AI technologies within the European Union.
  • Identify the ethical concerns associated with AI, including bias, discrimination, and privacy implications, and comprehend how the EU AI Act addresses these concerns.
  • Analyze the balance between fostering innovation and safeguarding fundamental rights and societal values within the regulatory framework of the EU AI Act
  • Assess the role of transparency and accountability in ensuring the responsible use of AI systems as mandated by the EU AI Act.
  • Critically examine the alignment of AI technologies with European values and the implications for global AI governance and standards.
  • Develop strategies for stakeholders to navigate the regulatory landscape established by the EU AI Act while fostering innovation and ethical AI practices.
This programme has been developed by the London Governance and Compliance Academy (LGCA), a UK-recognised training institution. The syllabus is verified by external subject matter experts and can be accredited by regulators and other bodies for two (2) CPD Units that approve education in financial regulation, such as the FCA. The course may be also approved for CPD Units by institutions which approve general financial training, such as the CISI. Eligibility criteria and CPD Units are verified directly by your association, regulator or other bodies which you hold membership.

Training Duration & Method

This course may take up to two (2) hours to be completed. However, actual study time differs as each learner uses their own training pace.

The course is offered fully online using a self-paced approach. The learning units consist of reading material. Learners may start, stop and resume their training at any time. At the end of each session, participants take a Quiz to complete their learning unit and earn a Certificate of Completion upon completion of all units.
